Avocado Frenzy

26 May

I just realized lately my lunch plate has one similarity.

Monday

Tuesday

Wednesday

See the similarity there? Yep, it’s the AVOCADO! I’ve been having at least one avocado for every lunch. It’s just so good and it kept me full for quite some time. Although it still didn’t stop me for having fruity bowl for my afternoon snacks πŸ™‚

But it kept my dinner pretty small

Lotus Root Soup

Prior Paleo, I wasn’t a big fan of eating plain avocado. Back in Indo, we used to make an avocado shake (mashed avocado with sugar and ice cubes – yummy, especially in hot and humid weather). Some people even put condensed milk with it (not me, it was waaay too sweet!).

Some avocado fun facts

1. It is a fruit, not a vegetable
2. It has higher content of fat compared to other fruits and mostly are monounsaturated fat
3. It has a slight sweet taste but mostly just bland and fatty. Sprinkle some salt and lemon juice will spice it up a bit
4. Blend avocado with some cocoa powder and medjool dates to create dairy free chocolate mousse (I haven’t tried it yet, but have been having this concept in my head for a while)
5. It has higher potassium content compared to banana (according to Wiki)
6. It is one of Clean Fifteen produce list, so no need to buy organic πŸ™‚ I know Walmart grocery at my neighborhood sell it for 50 cents each.

What’s your favorite way of eating avocado (other than guacamole)?

Ah, I can’t help it, but I don’t like avocados. My mom used to eat them a lot when I was a child, and I didn’t like them back then, and now I’ve tried them again (also, with lemon and salt), and I just don’t like the texture. I think it’s because it’s so fatty, I’ve always disliked fatty foods. 😦

I’m not quite a big fan of fatty food either but I think I can tolerate it to a certain degree πŸ™‚ and avocado is one of them

Love avocados! When I was a kid, I used to pour condensed milk over my avocados and eat them like that. Oooh, now I want some. Haha. Never tried salt and lemon before – interesting.

Ooh yeah, avocado is a staple in our house! We use it everywhere, but it pops up most often as a replacement for mayo. It’s sooo creamy and good on sandwich/wrap things, and especially instead of mayo in tuna or salmon salads and veggie dips. :>

Ah! I was so tempted to make some more lotus root soup but I’m going to hold back.

Seriously though, avocados are AWESOME! Although I haven’t yet tried it in a smoothie… let me know how the chocolate one goes! πŸ˜€

I love avocado too πŸ™‚ Its funny that you call your afternoon snack fruity bowl πŸ™‚ That’s cute. I really must find lotus root, I am so curious as to how it tastes. It looks really yummy.
