I Looted Sprouts Markets

11 Mar

I’m sure you all heard about the devastating 8.9 earthquake that strike Japan today. I have a friend in Japan and the only way I could contact her is through her facebook. I hope she’s ok. Gosh, sometimes I think our world has come to end (2012 movie anyone?)…Anyway Kath has a very deep post regarding this on her blog. Go check it out. 🙂

Anyway, weekend is here…have any exciting plan? For me will be just a low key after last Saturday’s wedding. For sure I have to catch up on my house chores…argh I haven’t vacuumed for a while!

Today I got off earlier from work for an appointment. It was GORGEOUS DAY – mid 70s with cool breeze and sunny. Spring is here! But we’re gonna lose 1 hour this coming Sunday – Daylight Saving Time begins.

So since I had sometime to kill (heck who wants to go back to the office, stuck in the cold AC building on this gorgeous day), I decided to swing by Sprouts Farmer’s Market!

Look what I got looted!
Organic 100% Grass Fed Beef-I’ve been wanting to try what’s the difference of grass fed beef vs. grain fed ones except for the ratio of Omega 3 and Omega 6

Still figuring out what dish should I make with this - another roast? Just made some last week

Organic Valley Free Range Large Brown Eggs for 99 CENTS!! BIG SCORE! The regular price is at least $3-$5…

Fresh Wild Caught Alaskan Cod Fillet for $4.99/lbs -heck even cheaper than Costco’s frozen ones (2lbs for $14.49). I got 3 huge fillets!

Muir Glen Organic Fire Roasted Diced Tomatoes – 2 for $5.00 ($2.50 each)

I bought this thinking I might cook the beef with it..we’ll see.

Btw I made another batch of Coconut Fish Fillet last night and very very yummy. Presentation-wise might not as pretty as the first time I did, but who cares? And I had 2 containers of tofu that have been sitting in my fridge for ages so I cooked them the same way as the fish.

Yes, tofu is not Primal/Paleo (legumes are big no no in Primal/Paleo) but it’s not like I eat a whole box of it in one sitting. Besides I’ve never really consumed that much soy in my whole life. Soy got bad rep in the US because it’s just being overused in a lot of stuff: soy lecithin, isoflovane, soy protein isolate etc.

Yes, I DO LOVE SOY – from edamame, tofu, tempeh (it’s Indonesian native food) and miso, but ever since learning more about it, I rather limit my consumption of it.

Anyway, on an unrelated matter, I had a weird dream last night. A while back I was reading Allie’s post from Live Laugh Eat about her DIY lightbox and I had a dream of making it my own! WHOA! When I woke up, all sudden I had this urge to make my own. It’ll improve my food photography quality as well and the thought of it excites me so much!

Have you inspired by your dream before?

Have a good weekend, everyone!

Thank you for linking me! 😀

I think it’s perfectly alright to eat soy once in a while. I also use soy sauce and miso for cooing, and every now and then I eat some rice, so I’m not completely Paleo.

Regarding concern about soy products, and far as I know, if soy products are fermented (miso, soy sauce, tempeh), they’re pretty healthy. So only non-fermented soy products need to be limited.

    Here’s a good overview:

    Hi there,

Awesome choice of food combination. I love organic food. Makes you feel like you are also supporting those farmers that go the extra mile to produce fine food.

I am on my way to a house warming party tonight and although I am excited about seeing old friends, not so excited about the partying. I have been working out for a long time now and just love being in shape. But my weakness sometimes can be to let loose a bit.

So hopefully I will not go overboard and remind myself what I have achieved.

Great blog by the way. Love the post and will surely come back for more.

    Take care

    Michael

Lol! I’m sorry… I can never figure my way around SoCal. I just know LA is north of San Diego (hahahaha!). Well, even if your local FM isn’t all that, I’m still jealous of your Sprouts. 😛 ;D
